Under Ehsaas-e-Karbala flagship campaign, The Saviour Foundation, this year has organized a series of 3 lectures from 15th - 17th September which were given by the scholar from Najaf, Iraq Hujjatul Islam Maulana Shabbir Agha Karbalai. The lectures talked about the history of azadari (mourning on the grandson of Holy Prophet saww) from Prophet Adam till Imam Mahdi (atfs) and also its history in Hyderabad plus sacrifices and efforts of azadaars in history of Hyderabad. After a successful Science Fest last year, this year The Saviour Foundation decided to host a Literary Fest - Talkathon which aimed at emphasizing the importance for young children to develop strong verbal and language skills. The event consisted of various competitions which included Spell Bee and Quiz Competition for students from Grade 1 to Grade 3, Extempore Competition for students from Grade 4 to Grade 7, and Debate for students from Grade 8 to Grade 10. This event was an Interschool competition involving 6 schools from Hyderabad, The event was conducted at Urdu Maskan Hall on 4th August 2019.
An initiative by The Saviour Foundation to provide employment opportunities to the qualified and deserving youths and women of our community. Under this initiative we provide career counsellling, organize job fairs at the areas which are left unnoticed by the employers and placement agencies and act as a bridge between them and the job seekers providing services absolutely free for everyone willig to work.
Our team in Pune has managed to successfully distribute the ration for another year in the Month Of Ramadhan. 40 packets were distributed and given to the rightful needy families. The cost of each pack was approx Rs 500 with each packet containing Rice, Oil, Ghee, Sugar, Sewaiya, Milkmaid, Ginger Garlic paste, Biryani Masala and Dry fruits. All the praise and gratitude is firstly for Allah(swt) and then our donors for donating generously in the way of Allah (swt). May the blessings of Allah (swt) and grace of Imam (atfs) always be on them.
Our team in Hyderabad continued the ration distribution activity for a second consecutive year in the Holy month of Ramadan. We distributed 160+ packets of Ration across 160 deserving families. Each pack of ration costed Rs 395 and had these contents: Rice, Masoor Dal, Edible Oil, Sugar, Ghee, Sewaiya, Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Haldi Powder, Garam Masala Powder, Ginger Garlic Paste and Milk Tetra Pack. We thank our donors who have made this possible and pray to Allah (swt) that they are blessed with abundant happiness, success and good health.
During Ramadan 2019, we had a close acquaintance who reached out to us with details of an old man and his wife who were struggling to survive in the hot weather and were in need of a cooler to give them some respite from the hot summer. Our volunteers at #TSF immediately stood up to the idea of sponsoring an air cooler for this family and personally visited them and gifted this item from our end. The elderly man and his wife were deeply touched with this act and became very emotional and gave lot of prayers to our volunteers. Our only advise to everyone reading this post is to please take care of your parents.
Through March to April, our volunteers have been involved in 3 distributions to the general public, across 3 different locations in Hyderabad. Almost 400 number of 300 ML cold water bottles were distributed (31st March 2019) on a hot Sunday Afternoon at Afzal Gunj Bus-Stop in the city of Hyderabad. 700+ ice creams of different flavors were distributed (9th April 2019) on the occassion of the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (a.s) at Yaadgar e Hussaini, Hyderabad. 600 Sweet Donuts were distributed (20th April 2019) on the night of Shab e Baraat at Kohe Qayam, Qayamnager, Hyderabad.
The Saviour Foundation kick started its first event for 2019, with a Free Heath Check Up Camp at LangerHouz which was open to people from all communities. This camp was set up in collaboration with Al Zehra Health Care and The Dental Practice. The health camp had free Dental Check up, Eye consultation, General Physician, Gynecology and Nutrition consultation services along with the free medicines distribution.
During Arbaeen 2018, The Saviour Foundation raised funds on behalf of Carvan-e-Hind to sponsor tea for zawwars who participate in 85km #Arbaeen walk from Najaf to Karbala. By the grace of Allah and all the support from the momineen around the world, we were able to raise Rs 380,917 which were handed over to Carvan-e-Hind officials for distributing at the Carvan-e-Hind mawakib near Pole 327.
The Saviour Foundation came up with an event named “SciFest 2018” in pursuance of our belief that promotion of scientific approach is necessary for the all round development of the society. This event was intended to develop aspects of communication, creativity, presentation and practical knowledge towards science. This event was an Interschool competition involving 6 schools from Hyderabad, The event was conducted at Urdu Maskan Hall on 26th August 2018.
On 15th July, 2018, volunteers of The Saviour Foundation spent their Sunday with the orphans of Darul Yatama Orphanage. The agenda for the day was to have lunch with the kids, followed by a one of it's kind magic show by Dr. Shakeel Jafri and lastly playing an award winning movie " Children of Heaven" directed by Majid Majidi. While we spent time with the kids, we took away some learning from them on how to be strong from within and be happy from outside and take difficulties of lives in our stride.
On the afternoon of 22nd June, 2018 our team made a visit to Fatima Old Age Home for a clothes distribution drive initiated by Affinitiv India LLP . It was a life-changing event not just for our volunteers but also for the employees from Affiiniv India LLP. All the 39 women inmates of the house were given a colorful maxi dress and the 10 male inmates were given kurta pyjama set. All the inmates were ecstatic on receiving new clothes with some even trying to bargain with each other to get one of their favorite color.
During the holy month of Ramadan in 2018, Hyderabad Chapter of The Saviour Foundation distributed a total of 135 packs of ration throughout the month with each pack containing - Rice, Masoor Dal, Ghee, Oil, Salt, Tea, Sugar, Dates, Flour and Sewiya. 135 families were chosen to receive each of these packs. By the grace of Allah, our team was able to get on the field on every Sunday of Ramadan and reach out at different localities for distribution.
The Saviour Foundation team of Pune last year (2018) in the holy month of Ramadan, stretched their helping hands to the needy and poor ones. The Pune team distributed ration to 36 families who are socially deprived and can't afford much for sustenance and each bag comprised of 3 kgs wheat, 2 kgs rice,1 kg masoor dal and 1 packet of dates.
The Saviour Foundation had set up a free eye check up camp at Qayam Nagar on 6th May 2018 from 11am to 5pm. The camp was set up in association with Lions Club Hyderabad - Charminar Centennial. Around 127 patients turned up for the camp where free screening was provided for various eye diseases. Patients who required surgery have been asked to visit Lions Club associated hospitals for further free consultation and surgery if required. 58 patients were advised specs which were provided by the foundation free of a cost.
On 21st April, 2018 - 6 NGOs across Hyderabad including TSF together conducted a protest at Necklace road demanding Justice for all Rape Victims. A huge number of people turned up for the protest and along with us demanded that our law needs an amendment so that death sentence can be pronounced for rapists. Farzan Merchant (founder of Jukaado) spoke about how women can use different self defense techniques in emergency situations. Members from the SHE team also facilitated the event.
sOn 27th Rajab, members of TSF visited Fatima Old Age Home to spend a couple of hours with those less unfortunate elders who have been abandoned by their children. While we are fast growing as a nation, our youngsters are forgetting their core responsibilities towards their parents. There were about 50 inmates in the Old Age Home and they shared their experiences that brought them to the shelter home - by the time we finished meeting all the inmates, each of our volunteers was teary eyed.
The Saviour Foundation arranged a silent indoor protest demanding reconstruction of Jannat Ul Baqee on 18th Feb, 2018. A large number of people gathered at Bibi Ka Alawa and joined us for this protest. We started the event with a majlis of Bibi Fatima Zehra (s.a) where our guest speaker spoke about our responsibility towards raising voice for reconstruction of Jannat ul Baqee. Placards were displayed throughout the event demanding reconstruction of baqee which is the resting place of many members from our Prophet's family. Around 2000 petitions were signed from the start of this campaign and copies have been sent to Saudi Embassy, Delhi, UNESCO, Delhi and members of our organization personally submitted a hard copy of the petitions along with a cover letter at Governor's office, Raj Bhavan, Hyderabad on 8th Shawwal.
